SoCAFE is pleased to offer our certification in conjunction with earning three (3) graduate credits, provided as an individualized course format. Graduate Continuing Education for Professional Educators credit is offered by the University of St.Thomas (UST), Minneapolis, MN. The Graduate Continuing Education credit courses are designed to meet the needs of professional educators. Building on a 50-year graduate tradition, and in partnership with practitioners and experts in the education community, these practical, values-based courses empower educators to bring the excitement of learning to their students and to overcome the challenges faced in the classroom, school and community. The University of St. Thomas is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Course title: Core Competencies of College Teaching 
Course meeting times/location: This course is provided using a digital format. Students have up to six months of beginning the course to meet all of the requirements. A facilitator will be assigned to work with you on a one-on-one basis to provide necessary content and logistical support and grading. The course is available on an ongoing basis. Description: The major purpose of this course is to provide a systematic and comprehensive foundation for college adjunct faculty in the 10 Core Competencies of the teaching-learning process. The course focuses on those learner-centered principles and core competencies needed by college faculty to effectively impart their content knowledge to students.

Course Schedule
Access to online platforms 24/7. Completion of all course requirements must be done within six months of beginning the course.

Here are the steps involved:

1) Complete our online application.
    Qualifications: Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited higher education institution in the
    United States. To verify that the institution is accredited, click on the

2) Submit registration fee of $595    

    Your registration fee includes:

  • Three (3) graduate credits (upon passing the course)

3) Register for course CTED672 - Core Competencies of College Teaching at University of St.Thomas

    Registration Requirement
    Students must hold a baccalaureate degree and may not schedule more than nine (9) semester credits
    for fall, and spring semesters or more than twelve (12) semester credit for summer term.

    Tax Receipt
    A receipt for tax purposes is not provided by the University of St. Thomas. If you wish to
    receive a receipt for tax purposes, please request this with your registration confirmation packet.

4) Arrange for an official transcript from the institution where you earned your highest degree
    to be sent
directly from that institution to:

5) Course requirements

    a) Achieve a score of 70% on each of the 10 module exams

    b) Final written course assignment   

6) Upon passing the course and submitting your official transcript you will earn your C.A.F.E. designation
    and receive two copies of the
Certificate of Completion.
